The following page addresses common questions we receive about the Ciceronian Society conference and about the society generally. If you think something else needs to be addressed here, please email info@ciceroniansociety.org
**Check back periodically for updates to this page
- Does the conference have a specific theme it focuses on?
- Not exactly. All our events are centered around our Christian commitments and our three themes: tradition, place, and “things divine.” Christian scholars and intellectuals interested in these themes are encouraged to attend our events, submit scholarly pieces to our journal, and be part of our larger community.
- Is this a society dedicated to the life and work of Marcus Tullius Cicero?
- No, but we enthusiastically endorse reading, studying, researching, and writing on Cicero.
- Click here for an explanation as to why we’re named after him
- Is there scheduled prayer time at the conference?
- Yes! You are invited to join us for an abridged Morning Prayer service according to the Anglican Book of Common Prayer (ACNA, 2019) [Location and Time, TBA]
- Is my registration fee tax-deductible?
- Registration fees for attending events, even when hosted by non-profit organizations, are not considered tax deductible. Donations to the Ciceronian Society are tax deductible. Click here to learn more.
- Is the Ciceronian Society a membership-based organization?
- The Ciceronian Society is not currently a membership organization. Governance of the Society is provided by a Board of Directors and there are no dues, applications, or selection processes to be a part of our larger community.
- We are strongly considering moving to a membership-based model, and will share more about this information in the future
- Will WiFi be available?
- WiFi will be provided by The Hope Center to attendees. Login information will be provided at the event itself.
- Will the conference be recorded?
- We hope to record several sessions of this conference, but we do not have details on this yet.

- Can I see a list of who is attending, including those not presenting?
- Individuals who are registered will be sent a participant list prior to the conference. It will not be provided on the website
- What should I wear?
- Despite our very Roman name, togas are neither required nor encouraged. Most attendees dress in standard business attire for presenting and “business casual” for everything else.
- While we’ll be in Texas in winter, it can still be quite warm. It would not be unusual or unexpected for individuals to be more casual given the setting.
- Are there opportunities for sponsors?
- Yes! Click here to learn more.
- Will there be catered lunches or dinners?
- Lunch for Thursday, Friday and Saturday will be catered and included in the registration cost.
- Dinners will NOT be catered and will be the responsibility of attendees who are encouraged to visit local establishments and to make plans in small groups
- When registering, please let us know if you require vegan options for the main meals.
- The menu for the Friday of the conference will be constructed to accommodate those observing lent
- Will there be coffee and snacks available during panels?
- Yes! Regular and decaf coffee, water, and light refreshments will be provided
- Can I bring my family?
- It is a long-term goal of the Ciceronian Society to make its conference an event for the whole family, and we welcome attendees to bring family members of all ages.
- At this time, we cannot offer childcare.
- Is any financial support available for those who want to attend but can’t afford to do so?
- We are currently pursuing funding to assist panelists and clergy members who lack the means to attend, but we do not yet have any at this time. Sign-up for our newsletter, which will notify you if new funding opportunities are available.
