Conference Fellowships

The Ciceronian Society is thrilled to continue providing two competitive fellowships for conference attendees.

For now, the number of fellowships available will vary each year, and selected fellows are required to attend the entirety of the event and complete a survey following the conference.

Membership in the Ciceronian Society is not required. Interested individuals should read the information below very carefully and complete the application at the bottom:

Deadline: December 1

Notified by: December 15

The Nisbet Fellowship

The Nisbet fellowship is named after Robert Nisbet (1913-1996), who was a professor of sociology at Columbia University. He is the author of numerous books, but his seminal work, The Quest for Community, is especially relevant to the Ciceronian Society and its core themes. He also represents our interdisciplinarity and the affection for tradition and place we value.

Who is Eligible?

  • Any accepted conference panelist with at least a Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent.
    • Must be professionally engaged in education or a similar role of regular moral and intellectual formation
    • Clergy members who are also panelists can only apply for one fellowship

What will you receive?

  • Recipients will receive free conference registration and will also be recognized on our website.
    • NOTE: At this time, we are currently pursuing additional funding to assist with travel expenses. If funding is secured, winners will automatically receive this benefit.

The Clergy Fellowship

The Ciceronian Society is an organization of Christian scholars who take their faith seriously, and we view churches as places we are called to serve. In order to explore what that service looks like and how we understand the role of scholars in the church, we want to engage more with those called to shepherd congregations.

Who is Eligible?

  • Ordained or appointed clergy currently assigned to any church in the Catholic, Protestant, or Orthodox traditions.
    • NOTE: The Ciceronian Society’s Statement of Faith is not currently on the website, but you are welcome to request a copy.

What will you receive?

  • Recipients will receive free conference registration and may be invited to participate in The Sower podcast. Recipients will also be recognized on our website.
    • NOTE: At this time, we are currently pursuing additional funding to assist with travel expenses. If funding is secured, winners will automatically receive this benefit.
